Take a break! Enjoy the peaceful environment of Kadampa Meditation Centre  Brisbane and restore your inner peace with our beginners meditation retreats. Be guided in Buddha’s profound methods of meditation that create a stillness in the mind that can pervade your whole life.

Each retreat explores a different topic.  Topics include meditations for relaxation, a clear mind and developing a kind heart.  These days comprise three meditation sessions and include morning tea and lunch. Everyone welcome!

Meditations for a Clear Mind - Sun 18 August

Resident teacher Gen Kelsang Ani will guide us through three simple meditations that will help us to experience mental clarity and inner peace by meditating on our mind itself. The first meditation lays the foundation for meditating on the mind by helping to temporarily overcome physical appearances. The second introduces us to the clarity of our mind, and the third is a meditation on our root mind. Together they lead us on a voyage of exploration of our mind through which we can discover our own inner potential for lasting peace and happiness. All these meditations can be practised by anyone.

Meditations for a Kind Heart - Sat 5 Oct

These three simple guided meditations will help us to develop greater peace of mind and happiness, and to improve our relationships with others through learning to cherish others. The first is a meditation on cherishing others – thinking that others are important, and that their happiness and freedom are important. The second is a practical meditation on compassion – the sincere wish to protect others from suffering. The third is a practical meditation on love – the sincere wish to give happiness to others. All these meditations can be practised by anyone.

Gen Kelsang Ani

Our Teacher

The teacher of our Beginners Meditation Retreats is Gen Kelsang Ani.  Gen Ani is Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Centre Brisbane and teaches all the main classes and courses at the Centre. Gen Ani has been studying and practising Modern Kadampa Buddhism with Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche for over 20 years. She teaches with warmth and compassion, making modern Buddhism accessible and applicable to all.

What to Expect

Over three sessions (each one hour long), you’ll receive instructions and be guided through 2 meditations each session. We sit in comfortable chairs or a cushion on the floor if you prefer. A delicious home-made morning tea & lunch will be served in the breaks to give you time to relax and absorb the teachings. Everyone is welcome.
