Take a break! Enjoy the peaceful environment of Kadampa Meditation Centre  Brisbane and restore your inner peace with our beginners meditation retreats. Be guided in Buddha’s profound methods of meditation that create a stillness in the mind that can pervade your whole life.

Each retreat explores a different topic.  Topics include meditations for relaxation, a clear mind and developing a kind heart.  These days comprise three meditation sessions and include morning tea and lunch. Everyone welcome!

Meditations for Relaxation - Sat 13 July

Buddhist teacher Jo Whatley will guide us through three simple meditations that are all forms of breathing meditation that help to calm the mind, reduce stress, and give rise to an experience of inner peace and wellbeing. The first meditation is a basic breathing meditation that helps to disengage the mind from the busyness of everyday life and create a special feeling of inner peace. The second combines mindfulness of the breath with visualisation, or creative imagination, and leads to a deep feeling of inner calm and purity. The third is a special breathing meditation that combines mindfulness of the breath with the recitation of mantra.

Our Teacher

The teacher of our Meditations for Relaxation retreat on Saturday 13 July is Jo Whatley.  Jo has been studying and practising Modern Kadampa Buddhism for many years and shows the example of how to integrate Buddha’s teachings into a busy, modern life.  She teaches with warmth and enthusiasm.

What to Expect

Over three sessions (each one hour long), you’ll receive instructions and be guided through 2 meditations each session. We sit in comfortable chairs or a cushion on the floor if you prefer. A delicious home-made morning tea & lunch will be served in the breaks to give you time to relax and absorb the teachings. Everyone is welcome.
