Many of us suffer from feelings of anxiety and find ourselves constantly worrying about one thing or another. Fortunately, we can change this. By growing our practical wisdom of how our mind works and gaining experience of Buddhist meditation techniques we learn to control our mind, rather than allowing our mind to control us. Through this we develop a sense of peace and mental freedom, let go of our worry and overcome our anxious minds.

We are alive, therefore we will die. This is the simplest, most obvious truth of our existence, yet very few of us have really come to terms with this fact. In our modern society, death and dying are often shrouded in grief, confusion, and unhappiness, rather than being accepted as a normal part of life. Buddha gave extensive teachings on the death process, and on how to use an awareness of our death to live a full and meaningful life. By developing a deeper understanding of the death process, we can approach our own and others’ deaths with a different perspective. Using Buddhist wisdom, discover how to protect yourself and help others at this defining moment of life. There will also be an opportunity to engage in a chanted meditation practice called ‘powa’ that we can use to help those who have recently died.

Life is too short and our relationships are too valuable to hold onto anger forever. For most, it is impossible to go through our life without feeling harmed or insulted by others, or without being hard on ourself for past mistakes.

In this course we will explore practical methods for learning to let go of anger and resentment towards others, as well as the art of forgiving ourself. This will help us to enjoy more lightness and confidence, bringing harmony to our relationships and more meaning and peace to our life.

All of Buddha’s teachings, both Sutra and Tantra, are included within Lamrim. By gaining experience of the Lamrim meditations we overcome our faults, solve our daily problems and draw closer to enlightenment.

What is Lamrim?

The stages of the path to enlightenment, or Lamrim in Tibetan, is the backbone of Kadampa Buddhism.

Lamrim is a special set of instructions that includes all the essential teachings of Buddha Shakyamuni arranged in such a way that all his Hinayana and Mahayana teachings can be put into practice in a single meditation session.

It was compiled by the great Indian Buddhist Master Atisha, who was invited to Tibet by King Jangchub Ö in AD 1042, and who spent the rest of his life there spreading pure Dharma.
