Does your mind ever feel like it just won’t switch off?
Replaying conversations. Worrying about what might go wrong. Getting caught in loops of thought that leave you feeling drained, foggy, and further from peace than when you started.
If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone — and you’re not stuck. There is a way through.
Most of us have never been taught how to work with our mind. So when unhelpful thoughts arise, we follow them — analysing, replaying, worrying — until the thinking itself becomes the problem.
Buddhist wisdom offers a gentle but powerful reframe: the issue isn’t that we think. It’s that we’ve developed the habit of following every thought wherever it leads, without realising we have a choice.
When we learn how the mind actually works — and how to guide it with kindness rather than force — something shifts. Clarity becomes possible. So does rest. So does genuine inner peace.
In this half-day workshop, Buddhist nun Gen Kelsang Ani will share practical teachings and guided meditations to help you step out of unhelpful thinking patterns and discover a calmer, more spacious mind.
These aren’t just ideas to think about — they are tools you can use. Through Buddhist meditation techniques and gentle mental training, you’ll develop the ability to step back from a busy, overactive mind and find stillness beneath the noise.
With practice, you’ll discover how to navigate the pressures of modern life with greater ease, switch off when you need to, and experience a quality of peace that doesn’t depend on everything going right.
In this workshop you will discover practical tools that can be used in everyday life, including:
Each session combines clear, accessible teachings with guided meditation — so you leave not just with understanding, but with direct experience of a quieter mind.
Buddhist wisdom has helped people work with their thoughts for thousands of years. Many people find that even small shifts in how they relate to their thinking bring immediate relief — a sense of spaciousness they didn’t know was possible.
This workshop follows the public talk “Choose Happiness” on Thursday evening, which explores the inner causes of happiness through the lens of Buddhist teachings.
Together, these two events offer a beautiful combination of insight and practice — timeless wisdom paired with practical tools to bring more peace and clarity into everyday life.

Yes. This workshop is designed to be accessible for everyone, whether you’re completely new or have some experience. Everything is explained clearly, and you’ll be guided step by step — no prior knowledge needed.
The morning is divided into simple, practical sessions that include gentle teachings, guided meditations, and time to reflect. You won’t be expected to do anything unfamiliar — just listen, explore, and take what’s helpful.
That’s very common. Overthinking can feel automatic and hard to switch off. In this workshop, you’ll learn practical ways to relate differently to your thoughts — not by forcing them away, but by understanding how the mind works and how to gently guide it.
No. While the methods come from Buddhist teachings, the workshop is presented in a practical, down-to-earth way that anyone can benefit from. You don’t need to be Buddhist, and there’s nothing you need to believe or sign up to.
There’s nothing special you need to bring. Just wear comfortable clothes. Seating is provided (chairs), and everything is set up so you can relax and feel at ease.
Not at all. Meditation isn’t about forcing your mind to be blank. It’s about learning simple techniques to work with your thoughts more skilfully. Even if your mind feels busy, you’ll still benefit.
This is our first visit to the region, and we’re really looking forward to it. The workshop will be run in the same friendly, welcoming way as our Brisbane classes — with clear guidance, a relaxed atmosphere, and a genuine wish to help people find more peace in their daily life.
