Is happiness something you choose — or something that just happens to you? And if it can be chosen, where does that choice begin?
Most of us spend our lives searching for happiness in the right circumstances, the right relationships, the right moments. And yet, even when everything seems to be going well, that happiness can slip away just as quickly as it arrived.
Buddha’s teachings offer a profound and comforting insight: lasting happiness isn’t found out there. It lives within the mind itself. When we gently learn to shift the way we think and respond to the world around us, we discover a source of wellbeing that no circumstance can take away.
This special public talk in Hervey Bay is your invitation to explore that discovery — and to begin finding it in your own life.
For thousands of years, people have turned to Buddha’s teachings to understand the true causes of happiness and suffering. These aren’t abstract ideas — they are practical insights into how our own thoughts shape our experience of life, day by day.
When we learn to recognise the patterns of our mind, we begin to loosen the grip of negativity and open the door to something more peaceful, more joyful, and more lasting.
In this inspiring evening talk, Gen Kelsang Ani will guide you through these ideas with warmth and clarity, showing how genuine happiness can be cultivated — not found by chance, but developed from within.
During this talk you will discover:
This talk is designed to be accessible and welcoming to everyone. Rather than focusing on meditation technique, the emphasis is on understanding — gaining the kind of clear insight that helps us see our own mind more honestly, and more kindly.
That understanding is where the possibility of change begins. It’s where we start to see that a more peaceful, positive, and happy mind isn’t just an ideal — it’s something we can genuinely work towards.
This talk is for you if you:
Wherever you’re starting from, you are warmly welcome.
