On this retreat we have the opportunity to increase our lifespan, merit and wisdom, through the special meditation practice of Buddha Amitayus.
The Retreat Topic
We all would like a long and healthy life but we need wisdom to see how to use our life in the most meaningful way. We also need merit, or good fortune, to give our mind the strength to support our spiritual development. We can develop these qualities by relying upon Amitayus, the Buddha of long life, merit and wisdom. We can also use this practice to help remove obstacles endangering the lives of others, especially our close friends and family.
This retreat is held at our modern urban temple in Spring Hill. The retreat will begin with an introductory talk on Friday night, 31 January at 7.30pm and continue on Saturday 1 February with three retreat sessions throughout the day. Each session of the retreat is one hour long and consists of short chanted prayers sung in English, a teaching and guided meditation. You are welcome to attend as many sessions as you like. There is no need to book for sessions just come along.
The teacher of this retreat is Resident Teacher Gen Kelsang Drolkyi. Gen Drolkyi’s experience of Dharma makes her teachings clear and practical showing how everyone can learn to live a joyful life through Dharma practice.
