Weekly Meditation & Buddhism Classes at KMC Brisbane

The Centre is closed until further notice and we are no longer holding face to face classes. Weekly classes will now be available to watch via an online video. Each video is available for a week.

Weekly classes are suitable for everyone. In each class a different aspect of meditation and Buddhism is explained. The classes are self-contained so you can watch any week. Classes begin with a simple guided breathing meditation followed by a teaching and a second guided meditation based on the topic. No meditation experience is necessary, classes are suitable for beginners and experienced meditators alike. Everyone is welcome.

In daily life we encounter many challenges, both large and small, and these can cause us to feel irritated, frustrated, or angry. These feelings destroy our peace and happiness and lead us to act in ways that damage our relationships. Through learning to view and respond to things differently we can experience the transformative power of patient acceptance – a vast and profound experience of calm that enables us to embrace challenges without being disturbed or harmed by them – enabling us to accept other people, ourself, and our life in a positive way.

Course Description

The mind is rich with creative power. Every day our mind creates many different realities, some of which may bring us a sense of joy and freedom, and others can be limiting, and even painful. Buddha taught how we can engage our imagination to make a better world for ourself and those around us.

On this three-week course you will learn:

  • To understand how the imagination works and how powerful it is.
  • How to distinguish helpful imagination from harmful imagination.
  • The meditation practices of Taking and Giving which show how to combine pure minds with visualisation to create a world of possibility and hope.

The teacher of this class is Gen Kelsang Drolkyi. Gen Kelsang Drolkyi is the Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Centre Brisbane. Gen Drolkyi’s experience of Dharma makes her teachings clear and practical showing how everyone can learn to live a joyful life through Dharma practice.
